Qantas has opened a large new extension to it's existing Brisbane Lounge in the International terminal. The new extension expands the existing lounge by 25%. Overall, there is seating for an extra 100 passengers, which will certainly ease the crush found currently early in the morning.
The new extension has its own hot and cold buffet, Quench hydration station, and barista coffee. and will complement the existing facilities on the main and mezzanine levels. There is a small bar, however the only full bar remains upstairs in the existing lounge.
The design of the extension draws on the same theme as the existing lounge. This includes the traditional white wood panelling on the walls, subtle lighting, curved ceiling and bright timber finishes.
Vanessa Hudson, Qantas Group's Chief Customer Officer, says "With the majority of our international flights from Brisbane departing in the morning, the expanded space will give our customers a more relaxed lounge experience. We operate almost 60 direct international flights from Brisbane every week, including to Los Angeles and Hong Kong on the 787 Dreamliner."
As most international flights leave Brisbane in the morning, the extension will be open every morning from 0730 to 1100. This should provide a more relaxed experience for those flying out in the mornings.
