Milan Linate British Airways lounge revamp
The Milan Linate British Airways lounge revamp has been undertaken while the airport has been closed for a few months, and BA has taken the opportunity to update the lounge with it's latest style.
The refresh comes as part of airline's £6.5bn investment plan, and it includes a new look reception, along with a lighter, brighter environment, new seating and desks with USB and euro-style power sockets.
There are also new hot meals, with what the airline calls 'enhanced dining options' including the introduction of hot dishes for the first time. There's a fully stocked bar too, and well up to the standards of the new Rome British Airways lounge, which lux-traveller has extensively reviewed.
However, this lounge is somewhat of a half way house, and doesn't reflect the ultra-modernist design of the newer lounges in Rome, and Aberdeen.
There is a refurbished dining area, with new tables and chairs. There are also new British-made Boss armchairs, specifically designed for British Airways. There are complemented by relaxing, decorative lighting by UK based Tyson lighting. Adapting the lounge design to the location, high quality Italian finishes are used, including terrazzo stone flooring and Carrara marble.
Carolina Martinoli, British Airways' Director of Brand and Customer Experience, said: "We know the difference our lounges make to our customers, be they travelling on business or for pleasure, so we have ensured that the upgraded lounge in Linate is a calm, comfortable and attractive space where they can make use of the wi-fi and enjoy complementary catering to get their journey off to the best start."
British Airways in Milan used to be spread over Linate, in the city centre, and Malpensa, which used to have an old style Terraces lounge. However BA is now concentrating on Linate airport, with up-to-13 flights a day to London's City and Heathrow airports.
The British Airways Milan Malpensa lounge is now the third party Sala Montale, for the few remaining flights.
British Airways has this year completed the renovation of its First and Club lounges in New York's JFK Terminal 7. A brand-new, contemporary lounge has also been unveiled in San Francisco, spread across 665 square metres with fantastic views of the runway. Further investment is planned with new British Airways lounges in South Africa and Geneva, which are set to open late in 2019.
British Airways's Linate lounge is open to the BA's Club Europe (business class) passengers, along with Silver and Gold members of the BA Executive Club frequent flyer program and Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald.
