Qatar Airways Singapore lounge opens
The new Premium Lounge narrows the gap between business and first class lounges, just as the carrier has done with it's seating and on board service.
The new Qatar Airways Singapore lounge is over 700 square metres, and is designed to accommodate over 85 passengers at once, offering Qatar Airways Business Class passengers a sophisticated environment with contemporary Arabic design elements.
As soon as you enter the lounge, it is clear this is no ordinary Business Class lounge. The grand entrance has Qatar Airways' signature "Marhaba" engraved stand-stone wall with a luxurious display of fresh white orchids.
A botanical patterned wall inspired by Singapore's affinity to horticulture and greenery is also added for a local touch.
Once inside the lounge, it features seven different seating areas including the Principal Lounge, Quiet Pods, Garden Bistro, High Seating, Martini Bar, Brasserie and Private Lounge.
Qatar Airways describes the lounges it has opened as being of a boutique hotel style, and that is reflected in the dining room, which has a full theatre kitchen for freshly-prepared a la carte food orders on demand, on top of an existing buffet spread offering an international menu featuring Arabic-influenced dishes.
The small Garden Bistro (with a green garden wall) has just 12 seats, while the Brasserie next door has 16 seats.
However it is the Martini bar which is likely to get the most attention. It is a large circular bar with just six seats around it, and two types of Champagne available. There is also a dedicated mixologist is available , offering cocktail (and non-alcoholic mocktails).
Guests wishing to relax in a quiet environment can occupy one of the five Quiet Pods, which offer a cozy, semi-private space equipped with sound proofing, reading lights, a coat hanger and universal charging points.
There is also a small business centre, with two computers, a printer, and free wifi.
Other unique features include custom furniture pieces that offer both style and comfort to each passenger. This includes a carefully designed sideboard, strategically placed next to the seats, and includes a lamp, universal plug point, wireless charger and a compartment suitable for storing handbags and personal belongings.
There are also five shower suites with amenities and towels available.
The Qatar Airways Singapore lounge is open daily from 0700 to 0200. However, Qatar operates just three flights a day from Singapore, and while the lounge remains open between these times, it is expected to be very quiet.
In line Qatar's lounge access policies worldwide, but at odds with oneworld, there is access at Qatar Airways' Singapore lounge just to business class and first class passengers of Qatar and other Oneworld member airlines. In economy, even with oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status there is no access.
