American open Flagship lounge in Chicago
The brand new Flagship Lounge at Chicago is one floor below the main Admirals Club, about 17,000 square feet on the second floor.
Just as we reported with the opening of the JFK Flagship Lounge, it is open to Business and First Class passengers, and oneworld elites, including Emerald and Sapphire: a welcome change - previously it was First and Emerald only.
It isn't particularly deep in the lounge. It's lengthy. Because of this, there is lots of light, and the lounge's entire length extends along the window line, providing stunning vistas.
Even though there are several distinct seating spaces, the entire lounge is actually one continuous room.
There is quiet area, however
there is absolutely no distinction between the lounge seats. A missed opportunity results from the absence of any sort of separator.
At the far end of the lounge is a media room.
Every seat has a power outlet and a USB port. There are a variety of sitting options, including cosy single seats, communal tables, high-top seating, and dining booths and tables. Despite its enormous size, the lounge is sure to be busy during peak hours because of the relatively sparse seating arrangement and overall lack of seclusion provided by the open architecture.
The extensive food and beverage variety is the standout feature of the American Airlines Flagship Lounge at Chicago O'Hare airport.
Food wise, there is a fair balance between heartier food and healthier options in the extensive selection of appetisers, snacks, salads, hot and cold meals, and desserts available to guests. In addition to the buffet, there is a chef station with changing specialities.
The Flagship Lounge at Chicago O'Hare Airport does not include cooked-to-order entrees or private Flagship Dining, in contrast to the New York JFK facility; such upscale services are reserved for hubs where American Airlines runs international or domestic premium service.
The self-serve bar offers a variety of wines, Champagnes, liqueurs, and spirits in addition to a station where customers can "make their own cocktails" with a changing menu of recipes. There are also coffee, juices, and soft drinks available.
A Coca-Cola Freestyle machine which lets patrons choose from hundreds of drinks concoctions with a touch screen.
The Flagship Lounge features several elegant shower suites outfitted with a sink, and a toilet, and CO Bigelow bath amenities in wall-mounted dispensers.
