New Singapore Airlines 737 business class
Singapore Airlines' shortest flights will soon boast a fully lie-flat bed in business class
Its highly-anticipated new 737 cabin products, will be rolled out on its Boeing 737-8 fleet over the next few months.
It is the front of the aircraft which gets most interest, with the Boeing 737 MAX business class being kitted out for Singapore Airlines with the Vantage model from Thompson Aero Seating, individually styled by London's Factorydesign.
There are 10 business class seats, arranged in a forward-facing staggered 2-2, 1-1, 2-2 abreast configuration.
With 22 inches in width, and rreclining into a comfortable full-flat bed that is 76 inches long, the seats have premium materials with bespoke embroidery using the same soft furnishings as those found on medium-haul aircraft, providing a higher level of comfort for short-haul flights.
A divider between the adjacent seats provides a new stowage area for personal items, as well as the bi-fold meal table. Other features include USB charging ports and in-seat power supply, a reading light with adjustable brightness, mood lighting, and a pocket under the monitor that provides easy stowage during taxi, take-off and landing.
However two of the Vantage seats are better than any of the rest. The layout alternating between two seats and just one seat means that the second row is a throne seat, which much more extra space.
Since the airline merged SilkAir back in to Singapore Airlines, the airline has always planned to implement its impressive long-haul product into a short haul airframe, on flights from Singapore to Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, and Thailand.
At the back of the aircraft in economy class, there has also been a revamp, with Panasonic's X-Series seat-back in-flight entertainment fitted.
