Finnair premium economy launches
Finnair has unveiled its brand-new Premium Economy product. The new travel class - alongside a unique new Business Class and a refreshed Economy Class - makes its debut in May on the route to Singapore.
Finnair's new Premium Economy cabin will offer seats that have about half as much room again as Economy Class. The new cabin class is separated in a dedicated cabin with a maximum of just 26 passengers per aircraft.
All A350 and A330s will be retrofitted, with a pretty standard 38 inch pitch and 8 inch recline on Finnair Premium Economy.
The new Premium Economy seat has memory foam cushions, a leg rest and moveable headrest. There is stowage for laptops infront of the seat.
The seat also features a standard single fold out tray for work and dining, as well as a reading light. There are charging ports too, with a universal socket, and USB A ports.
TV screens are again pretty standard for premium economy, with a 13 inch wide screen, and of course AV on demand.
Finnair is the launch customer of the "Vector Premium" seat, which is manufactured by HAECO, which has been customised by London based design agency Tangerine.
Finnair have a three rows of 2-4-2 seating on the Airbus A350, and three rows of 2-3-2 seating on the Airbus A330, in Premium Economy.
Premium Economy customers can enjoy two meal services as well as a selection of drinks throughout the flight. A three-course meal will be served on new chinaware designed exclusively for Finnair by top Finnish designer Harri Koskinen and Finnish design icon, Iittala. There is also a snack just before landing.
Finnair has teamed up with renowned Finnish design house Marimekko to bring unique textiles for Premium Economy. The neck pillow and woven blanket are designed specifically for the new Premium Economy seat.
Ole Orvar, Finnair Chief Commercial Officer, said: "The trend for premium travel has significantly accelerated during the pandemic, so we are confident our new Premium Economy travel class will prove very popular with customers looking for an upgraded experience from Economy."
Finnair has also invested in a refresh of its long-haul Economy Class, with new lighter seats for Finnair's A330 aircraft and three new A350 aircraft giving USB A & C connectivity and a larger inflight entertainment screen with an updated user interface.
The makeover of Finnair's A350 aircraft in service currently will see their Economy cabins receive new seat covers and an updated IFE user experience to bring them in line with the designs of the new Business and Premium Economy cabins.
The airline has also announced its novel new Finnair Business Class seat which does not recline.
