The new Air Canada Vancouver International Lounge has opened a new Maple Leaf Lounge in the international area of Vancouver International Airport after an 18-month renovation. The YVR Air Canada Lounge has a bar, buffet dining, showers, a TV room, and a business centre.
The new Maple Leaf Lounge at Vancouver International Airport, designed for International passengers, is a delight, and a vast improvement on the old lounge.
The re-opened lounge is near the priority international security lanes which lead to departure gates for Air Canada's trans-Pacific flights, plus the once a day flight to London Heathrow. It is next to the four lounges for British Airways and Air Canada.
The two-level, 13,500 square feet (1,250 square yard) two-level facility can accommodate 258 travellers, and it features artwork by Canadian artists Kendal Kendrick, Nicolas Ruel and Danielle Roy.
There is buffet area, with only a fairly basic breakfast, however at lunchtime and in the evenings there are hot options, plus menu items by David Hawksworth (a Vancouver chef) and open plan cooking with individually prepared dishes.
There is a small walk up bar, with a two options for red and white wines, Canadian beers, and a wide selection of spirits.
There is a Business Centre, which has four desktop computers, plus a printer and scanner.
There is free, fast, wifi in the lounge.
In this area there is a maplewood work table built by Duncan's Live Edge Design, and all seats feature mains power 120v power outlets, and USB sockets.
There are also shower rooms with rain shower heads, and a "Spa-inspired" room.
Around the back is a small TV room, and a quiet zone with reclining lounge seating. There is also a small enclosed room which can be used for VIPs.
The lounge was designed by Vancouver's Gustavson Wylie Architects, and the furniture was designed by North Vancouver's Brent Comber, Birchwood Furniture of Calgary, Nienkamper from Toronto and Montreal's Mobilier Modern.
There is access for Air Canada's Business Class passengers, and Star Alliance Gold members.
At Vancouver, Air Canada also has lounges in Vancouver's domestic and trans-border areas.
From Vancouver Sydney has flights to Sydney, Hong Kong, London Heathrow, Brisbane, Nagoya, Delhi, London Gatwick, San Jose, Dublin, Phoenix, Denver, Frankfurt, Taipei, and Boston.
The Maple Leaf club is one of 16 such lounges at Canadian airports, as well as six overseas locations (New York-LaGuardia, New York-Newark, Los Angeles, London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Paris.
