Star Alliance has opened a new lounge at Rome first and business class passengers and Star Alliance Gold Card holders.
Star Alliance customers flying from Rome can now take advantage of a new premium lounge at the city's Fiumicino Airport.
A typical Star Alliance co-branded lounge, it has Italian designer furniture, Italian-inspired food including made-to-order signature dishes and a staffed bar and barista coffee station.
Designed by the Barcelona based team, Up to You Studio, there are classic wooden lattice walls, and huge pictures of Rome in black and white.
Quite large, seating for up to 130 passengers, there are a variety of seating areas, and pleasant views of the runway.
There is Italian designer furniture, which looks a lot more comfortable than in the core Alitalia lounge, and most seats are next to power sockets (Euro round pin) and USB outlets.
There is free wifi in the Rome Star Alliance lounge and a private space for making phone calls is available.
"Star Alliance has set itself the overall goal of improving the customer's travel experience. Offering a premium lounge product is an integral part of this strategy. Our new Rome Lounge expands the network of Star Alliance branded lounges to seven and offers our customers flying from the 'Eternal City' a state of the art lounge experience", said Christian Draeger, Vice President Customer Experience, Star Alliance.
The lounge is open from 05:15 to 21:15 daily.
Star Alliance is now to open a new lounge in Amsterdam, which will open in early 2019. It will feature its own unique design and include many contemporary Dutch design icons.
