The New First Class seats on Delta Air Lines have been revealed: and for many passengers may be a disappointment. The seats in the new Airbus A220 jet are basic recliners, in a 2-2 layout.
The latest Delta Air Lines First Class seats are in 2-2 layout, with double seats each side of the aisle. Designed for domestic flights up to five hours in duration, there may be some disappointment by passengers that Delta have stuck with 1980s style layout, with three rows before a conventional economy class cabin.
The seats will be fitted with the largest video screens of any Delta domestic first class seat.
The design reveals that the seat is a slightly larger version of the Delta Premium Select seat (known as Premium Economy) in larger jets, with a pitch of 36 inches, and a width of 20.5 inches.
There will be a new WiFi with much faster connection than at present, giving almost broadband-'2KU' speeds.
Previously known as the Bombardier C Series, the Airbus A220 jets will be flown by Delta Air Lines from early next year.
As is common in North America, the First Class cabin is what European airlines would know as Business Class, and behind the curtain economy is known as 'Coach'.
There are 12 new-design seats in the First Class cabin, and 97 economy seats is a 3-2 configuration, all 18.6"wide. 15 of these seats have extra-legroom, known by Delta as Comfort+.
Delta has ordered 75 A220s which will begin flights from January 31 from Delta's hub at New York's LaGuardia airport to Boston and Dallas, with other A220 routes through to mid-2019 including Dallas and Houston to Detroit, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City.
