Cathay Pacific's newest Hong Kong airport lounge, called The Deck, has now opened.

Cathay Pacific's new The Deck lounge at Hong Kong Airport has opened its doors to passengers.

In Cathay Pacific's new 'Home away from home' style, the open-ceiling veranda, views of the airport runway, and a designer setting have created a welcome new lounge alternative.

It has a similar design to Cathay Pacific's latest lounges in Hong Kong, with natural materials, greenery and art from local artists. It seats 180 passengers, and there is of course a noodle bar.

The Cathay Pacific Deck Lounge has undergone a one year renovation, giving it a relaxed chic living room vibe. It has the same designer, Ilse Crawford, as with other Cathay Pacific lounges.

As with many other lounges at Hong Kong, the lounge is on the first floor, under the overall roof of the terminal, giving it a busy nosy feel. This is particularly evident if you go out onto the wide L-shaped 'outdoor' terrace area - called the Cathay Pacific 'the deck' - which also gives the lounge its name.

Situated beside gate 19, which used to be the former Dragonair G16 lounge, before the arch rival was taken over by Cathay Pacific. It is right next to the Qantas lounge, and indeed there used to be a back door on the Qantas lounge which fed into the G16 lounge entrance.

The Deck lounge and catering is run by French facilities management firm Sodexo.

Food is good in the Cathay Pacific Deck Lounge, with the normal Cathay Pacific Noodle Bar - including local classics such as wonton noodles in broth, dan dan noodles, fish balls, dim sum and buns.

The lounge also has a 'relaxation room' zone with the airline's Solo chairs, where you can work at the flip down table in privacy.

There are eight shower suites, with complementary amenities.

As a joint Business and First lounge, there is access is for Business and First class, along with oneworld Sapphire and Emerald such as Silver frequent flyers with British Airways, and Qantas Gold.

However, as one lounge opens, another closed, and Cathay Pacific's The Cabin lounge is now shuttered. It will be sadly missed for it's great views and also location, half way along the main walkway of the airport terminal.
