Lufthansa has opened its new lounge at Milan Malpensa airport. There is a central bar area where you can ask for cocktails, beer or wine.
The new Lufthansa Milan Malpensa Lounge has opened.
It is a small lounge in the Schengen area, designed really just for one aircraft full of passengers at a time. The 550 sqm facility has seating for 117 guests, with furniture designed by Swiss firm Vitra and floor-to-ceiling windows offering views over the airport apron. Milan has a very distinctive, elegant feel to it.
The design is good though, with designer chairs, and a lovely library type atmosphere. These are at the back of the Lufthansa Lounge in Milan which is shaped like an 'L'. The entrance runs along what seems to be a corridor, and it can get packed here, however once you get further to the back of the Milan Lufthansa lounge, there are seating areas including comfortable leather chairs there, as well as a fake 'library' on the wall with some great lighting.
There is a central bar area where you can ask for cocktails, beer or wine, which the airline says has an "aperitivo" concept. Popular cocktails are prepared by the barman.
This also serves barista-brewed coffee, or the Coffee Corner located at the lounge entrance for travellers with limited time to spare.
A large open kitchen dominates the lounge and dining areas, and is open for a couple of hours at lunch or dinner.
There is basic finger food in the Lufthansa Milan Malpensa Lounge with local Italian cuisine, including aperitifs and made-to-order dishes from the open kitchen including pasta.
There are Bathrooms in lounge, but no showers.
The Lufthansa Milan Malpensa Lounge is located after security in Departures Area A, Terminal 1, above the gates A24-A39. It is open 0500 to 2000.
Entrance is given to Lufthansa and Star Alliance Business class passengers, but they are not permitted any guests. Star Alliance Gold passengers are permitted one guest.
