New seats in all classes for Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific new seats

Cathay Pacific has upgraded its economy, business and first class offering with the new designs being progressively installed on all new aircraft as they are delivered.

The new cabins (launched in tandem with consultants Design Q) will gradually be retrofitted on all Cathay's long-haul aircraft and will be available on the Asian carrier's services between London Heathrow and Hong Kong, but this is expected to be a slow process, as each aircraft will have to be taken out of service for several weeks.

The development means that all three classes will now be available from the UK as aircraft are kitted out. Previously, the product had been installed on US services but eventually will be seen on all four daily flights that Cathay operates from Heathrow to Hong Kong.

In economy the seats have 32" pitch and which are claimed "to maximise knee and shin clearance, with a fixed back design which allows the passenger to recline without encroaching on the personal space of others".

In business there is a fishbone layout, with seats arranged at around 45 degrees inwards. There are at last also fully-flat beds, as opposed to the former lie-flat Cathay Pacific style. A 15" video screen is provided as is a power supply and improved lighting for work.

The first class section uses the increasingly popular suite concept with ottoman and extendable table, while all cabin baggage can be stowed in the suite itself.

Cathay Pacific operates four daily services to Hong Kong International Airport with onward connections to 111 destinations worldwide, as well as 20 cities in China through sister airline Dragonair.
