Singapore Airlines A350 & 787 Business Class seat

Singapore Airlines latest Business Class seat for regional routes has taken to the skies in the airlines new A350 and some Boeing 787-10 aircraft.

The new regional Singapore Airlines Business Class seat is being rolled out across the fleet.

The new seat is fitted to all twenty of Singapore Airlines' Boeing 787-10 and has been created by the airline in conjunction with Stelia Aerospace.

Similar to Singapore Airlines A380 business class seat, every seat reclines into a 76 inch flat and level bed, with a width of 29 inches around the shoulders if the armrests are lowered.

Each seat has an 18 inch high-definition touchscreen monitor, using Panasonic's latest eX3 system.

All 36 business class seats in the Boeing 787-10 converts into a fully-flat bed, and the 1-2-1 layout which gives direct aisle access for every passenger, although it is rather a tight squeeze to get out of the window seat with a gap of just 9 inches or 23cm.

Rows alternate by the window, with passengers in seats A and K located directly next to the window, and a wide shelf between them and the aisle. The alternating rows have a much better access to the aisle, but not such a great view.

The airline has what it is calling "honeymoon seat" in alternating pairs in the middle for pairs of passengers travelling together. An electronic divider separates the passenters if you don't know them. The other alternate rows are called "divorce seats" with a wide gap between passengers.

There is plenty of storage space around each seat, and there is an in-seat power supply using mains power sockets, plus USB ports.

There is what is called an integrated reading light unit with adjustable lighting intensity via a control panel with has large illuminated switches for lights and the Do Not Disturb indicator.

The Singapore Airlines regional Business Class seat comes a solid table, and with noise-cancelling headphones in a little cupboard, which also contains a mirror. Alas the seats come in Singapore Airline's house colours of beige, yellow and brown. However, the pillow has been uprated to a bright orange.

There is also Inflight WiFi on Singapore Airlines' Boeing 787-10 with 30MB of data free for business class passengers.

The regional seats are designed for routes flying routes up to 8 hours: typically, that means Singapore to Hong Kong, however it also includes destinations like Brisbane, where the existing A330 sloping seats are decidedly last decade.

Osaka and Perth will be the first scheduled destinations to be served by the new 787-10s, from May 2018. Prior to the launch of these regular services, the aircraft will be operated on selected flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur to ensure the crew get used to the new seat.
